The Upgrading and University Preparation (UUP) department at UFV invites applications from qualified individuals for a Permanent Faculty appointment to teach the six courses of the Workplace Training in Attitudes, Skills, and Knowledge (TASK) program:
TASK 054 (Work Experience I);
TASK 055 (Work Experience II); TASK is a cohort-based pre-employment program for adults with disabilities who want to explore employment opportunities and prepare for a job.
Under the supervision of the TASK instructor, students also receive safety and industry training from experts in WHMIS, FoodSafe, SuperHost, and First Aid.
In the second semester (January to April), students put their skills to the test in a series of work-experience placements with local businesses, research job openings, prepare resumes, and develop a personal portfolio.
The successful candidate will interview potential TASK students, as needed, and establish and monitor work experience placements in the community.
As part of service activities, the successful candidate will be expected to liaise with other UFV units, community agencies, and work placement sites when necessary.
As well, commitment to departmental, school or program area growth as a part of service is required. The candidate may be expected to contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning.Master's degree in education or related field from a recognized/accredited university
Recognized teaching credential
Minimum three years' teaching experience
Minimum three years' experience working with adults with disabilities
