Dynacare is currently searching for an Administrative Lab Clerk to join the Histology team in Brampton, Ontario. This is a permanent full time position working
Monday - Friday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate the shipment of slides, blocks and reports to consulting pathologist, including maintenance of daily log sheets
Generate various reports regarding the status of patient results
Followup with consulting pathologists regarding outstanding patient results
Respond to general inquiries from consulting pathologists
Enter all pathology billing codes to ensure proper billing
Enter all patients demographic, test information and/or results as provided on the original document as required
Confirm the accuracy of all that has been entered and download entry to main computer when required
Maintain record of blocks and slides send for consultation and returned with consultation reports
Responsible for sorting and filing of consultant reports and slides
Responsible for reconciling all billing at the end of the month and ensure all tests are properly billed
Responsible for training department personnel in AS400 entries
Responsible for submitting MFM requests
Ensure to research and resolve any unbilled tests
Maintain confidentiality of all information
Coordinate the shipment and logging of all requests for consultation and review of histology cases
Validate and image all requisitions along with reviewing patient demographic information on the requisitioning imaging system

Knowledge, Education and Experience:

Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
Experience in pathology department
Ability to work independently and within tight deadlines
Pressure to be accurate at all times as transposition errors can affect patient care
Excellent AS400 and excel knowledge
Typing speed more than 60 words / minute
Ability to respond in a professional and courteous manner
Ability to change priorities in a fast paced environment

Working conditions:

Clinical laboratory environment
Exposure to fumes, biohazardous substances, temperature changes and noise variances
Sedentary job with strain on eyes and repetitive movement of wrists and neck; prolonged period of time with extensive computer use
