INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN SPECIALIST (BAND LEVEL 8)
Health Sciences Information and Media Services

Faculty of Medicine

(Full Time, Permanent Position)

This competition may be used to fill identical positions in this unit within three (3) months of the closing date

DUTIES

Reporting to the Manager, Health Education Technology and Learning, and working closely with the Senior Instructional Design Specialist, the successful applicant will design and develop on-line courses for the Faculty of Medicine.

Duties include use of the QuestionMark assessment system; training faculty, staff, and students in the appropriate use of a learning management system; designing and developing multi-media instructional materials for a blended learning environment; working with faculty members and other content specialists; coordinating with administrators and designers; working with assessment groups; and performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (3-5 years) in the design and development of multi-media instructional materials; graduation with a degree in educational media, instructional design, or project management supplemented by graduate level coursework in a related field or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Self-motivation, strong communication, organizational, and planning skills and the ability to work independently in a team-oriented setting, is required.

Experience in project development and coordination, course design and development software, programming in HTML and JavaScript as well as experience in creating online courses in Desire2Learn and assessments in QuestionMark are considered assets.

SALARY:
$50,296-$70,526 per annum (CUPE Local 1615)
