- Lead the creation of a CSR and sustainability consulting practice, encompassing people, environment, and performance.
- Develop a business plan to build a revenue-generating consulting business around CSR & Sustainability.
- Counsel clients at the VP and CEO level on CSR and Sustainability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal groups to incorporate CSR and sustainability principles into business planning and operating plans.
- Form and lead an internal CSR & Sustainability Steering Committee to shape and implement CSR & Sustainability business strategies.
- Serve as the internal expert for CSR, researching emerging trends, communicating and educating stakeholders on relevant topics.
- Serve as the central point of contact for interfaces with business units, clients, and vendors on CSR and sustainability matters.
- Interface with government agencies and departments on CSR and Sustainability related matters.
- Ensure alignment of CSR and sustainability initiatives with the company's Risk Management program and strategic plan.
- Build partnerships with external organizations to support CSR and sustainability efforts.
- Assess CSR and sustainability performance, identify key issues, and report progress regularly.
- Establish controls and measurement systems to measure progress against performance targets.
- Specific additional measures of performance will be discussed with the successful candidate.
- University undergraduate degree (Environmental, Engineering, or Business preferred).
- Professional designation, such as ECO Canada's Environmental Professional (EP), is an asset.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in an Account Manager, Business Development Manager, Commercial, Engineering, Project Manager or equivalent role, demonstrating increasing responsibilities.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in one of the following core industries – mining, energy, or infrastructure.
- Sales and business development with established networks and previous experience building a practice in a new market segment.

Scope of Position
This leadership role focuses on building a corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability practice, serving clients in the Metals, Infrastructure, and Energy sectors. Reporting to the Environmental Services Group Managing Director, the director will develop CSR and sustainability consulting services and a team to support clients throughout their project lifecycle.
This role requires external facing activities, developing a leading-edge CSR practice and service offering for external clients. The individual will also be responsible for internal CSR and sustainability programs.
The Environmental Services Group provides scientific expertise and environmental consulting services across Canada and internationally.
