12-hour rotating continental shifts

Reporting to the Department Supervisor, the Press Operator 1will supply the customer with high-resolution graphics and material that consistently meets their expectations through efficient operation of equipment.

All employees are mandated to create a zero injury environment and engage actively in all areas of SPS.

What you'll be doing:

Maintain all company health and housekeeping standards
Train employees in Standard Operating procedures, Job Safety Analysis and HECP
Direct the duties of other Press Operators assigned to your press
Supervise set up of press and register new and complex jobs, including process work.
Repair minor plate issues
Trouble shoot press problems during a run
Trouble shoot minor maintenance issues with the press
Train/demonstrate best press techniques
Minimize waste; improve efficient use of materials
Set the standard for excellence in product quality
Ensure product quality meets all customer requirements
Understand and troubleshoot press and registration system
Efficiently communicate with others
Perform Lab checks and colour management
Report production and down time
Ensure all checks for safety, quality and production requirements are completed

Understanding of basic printing technologies
Basic mounting skills
Aptitude for basic math
Visual acuity and colour perception necessary to distinguish colour shades
Good communication skills
Problem Solving and trouble shooting skills
Strong attention to detail

- are able to work with mínimal supervision
- are able to perform physical requirements of the job
- are available to work 12-hour rotating continental shifts (2 weeks working days, then 2 weeks working nights)
- are 18 years of age or older
- have Grade 12 education or equivalent
