We are currently seeking an experienced, professional and detail oriented person to join our Dick's Lumber Team as an
Truss Design Technician.



ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Receives plans, for quoting, and designing finished truss packages for single residences to multifamily complexes. Tracks changes as necessary to bring a job through to production and delivery to jobsite.
  • Creates Layouts (models) and designs for Estimating and Production using Mitek Sapphire Structure layout and engineering software.
  • Specifies truss connection hardware types and quantities.
  • Consults and works with architects, city building officials, engineers and contractors to ensure that projects are completed correctly and on time.
  • Makes site visits when required to deal with on site issues.
  • Provides technical assistance to customers and the Sales department.
  • Performs other jobrelated duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Completion of 1 or 2 years BCIT Civil & Structural Technology or equivalent.
  • Experience with truss design software such as Mitek Sapphire Structure or Alpine iModel, iDesign or AutoCAD or similar 2d, 3d CAD program is an asset.
  • Must have excellent math and computer skills with excellent observational & problemsolving abilities.
  • Knowledge of the Building Code and construction market and TPIC guidelines is an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret Architectural and Structural drawings.
  • Needs to perform at a high level in a fast paced, demanding work environment.
  • Fluent in English, spoken & written with excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and the desire to learn a specialized skill.
  • Professional, courteous and punctual with a focus on customer service.
  • Must have a positive attitude and be a team player.
