Purpose of the position

Responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Lead the strategy, planning and delivery across a crossfunctional team to ensure the overall success of SMART's interactive display and complementary software solutions product portfolio.
  • Recommend the nature and scope of present and future products by reviewing product requirements, appraising new product ideas and product changes, and ensuring alignment with SMART's company objectives and mission.
  • Own and deliver regular communication on product performance report success and challenges and adjust the vision/product roadmap as needed. This includes a synthesis and deep understanding of customer issues, product profitability, channel dynamics and market and technology trends.
  • Contribute to the analysis, prioritization, and balancing of new product investment opportunities for hardware and software solutions at SMART, considering the entire product portfolio.
  • Understand and advocate for customers' needs and desires by skillfully utilizing research, market information and direct customer engagement.
  • Represent the customer within the development process, as well as maintain and prioritize the product backlog.
  • Develop business cases and gotomarket strategies for new products, features and business opportunities that improve profitability.
  • In bringing products to market, work closely with UX, product development engineers, product marketing and other product managers.
  • Collaborate across all internal stakeholders and business teams to evangelize proposed solutions, gain insight, feedback and buyin.
  • Own development of clear product positioning, demonstration collateral, and the go to market strategies for each solution set.
  • Determine product life span and own the endoflife decisions for products already in market.

Education and work experience

  • 5+ years' working in product management
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in software, engineering, marketing or business.
  • Work experience in the hightech product development sector, preferably in developing and delivery embedded system solutions (ideally Androidbased systems), hardware product development and manufacturing (ideally in the display and interactive display technology sector), and delivering technical solutions to the educational sector and/or corporate and business segments.
  • Worked in Agile Scrum as the software product owner as well as being familiar with the Waterfall methodology used in hardware development.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure DevOps and roadmapping software tools.
  • Experience in working with 3rd party software suppliers and vendors.
  • Combined strengths in technical knowledge/skills and business acumen.
  • Demonstrated outstanding customer centricity and engagement skills.
  • Ability to define and manage the range of processes associated with new product development and launch, and gain buy in across teams.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiating and relationship building skills both with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and superior attention to detail.
  • Perseveres and works through challenges to achieve success.
  • Action oriented, and able to execute complex programs independently.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others to collaborate effectively.
  • Background in Educational Technology (EdTech) a plus.

Supervision provided and received

  • This position has no direct reports.

Working conditions

  • Hybrid remote/officebased role, fastpaced work environment.
  • You will be expected to work within that environment while still delivering on your own job objectives. We expect that you will contribute not only to your own projects but also to those of the broader group.
  • Able to travel internationally (up to 20%)
