ABOUT THE POSITION
Barbarella is looking for a pastry cook to join their team on a full-time permanent basis.

The pastry cook is responsible for several functions including, but not limited to, food preparation, inventory control, and expert time management.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Create and prepare baked goods and dessert menu items.
  • Create costed recipes in accordance with the food cost budget.
  • Assist the Pastry Chef with purchases and work schedules.
  • Ensure production and the highest calibre of food presentation is achieved.
  • Supervise all kitchen staff; allocating tasks so that they will be done efficiently and ensuring all workers are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Ensure proper foreseeability within all stations to confirm product is managed properly in order to execute prep procedures and service in a cost and time effective manner.
  • Ensure all kitchen items ordered from suppliers are correct and checked for quality as per restaurant's standards.
  • Ensure all inventory of food and equipment is accounted for and secured upon closing of kitchen.
  • Provide assistance on line daily if needed.
  • Execute adhoc duties as required.

WHAT YOU HAVE

  • 12 years' experience in a similar role or equivalent experience through a pastry school.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills required.
  • Experience working more than one station at a time is preferred but not required.
  • Strong English communication skills with ability to establish and develop relationships with team members, partners, and customers.
  • WHMIS Certification is required but can be obtained once hired.
  • Food Safe Certification is required but can be obtained within 30 days of being hired.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, control, and composure in difficult and stressful situations.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
