The Role:

The Body Technician is responsible for processing vehicle repairs, based on Simplicity Car Care's best practices and ensuring customer satisfaction.

The Body Technician will work in the Body/Frame department; ensuring that vehicles are repaired as quickly as possible, in a safe and quality manner, with a fit and finish that meets or exceeds the original factory fit and finish.

The result should be an invisible repair. The individual also helps lead and train junior technicians and signs-off/approves their repair work.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a repair vs replace metric of 70% month over month and quarter over quarter
  • Ensure 100% of broken parts are itemized in the initial Repair Plan for every vehicle
  • Ensure the Repair Planner has disassembled a Drivable Repair Plan in 30 minutes so that the Lead technician and General Manager can review it
  • Act as a coach for all the apprentices working at that site leading by an example while working in the collision centre
  • Follow and complete the Quality Control documents provided to the team by the manager
  • Inspect all Repair Plans for estimated accuracy (drivable and nondrivable)
  • Ensure that body and frame repairs are completed to the OE specifications itemized in the OE procedures
  • Prefit parts on vehicles before completing the repairs
  • Ensure all parts on the Job Worksheet are replaced, and all panels bid to repair are repaired
  • Ensure that all tools are being used safely
  • Ensure that vehicles on the frame machine are either P4'd or tied down for maximum efficiency and safety
  • Embrace a "Parts off the Car" mentality
  • To maximize shop efficiency and throughput
  • To develop and maintain a high level of quality
  • To develop and maintain a reasonable level of profit
  • Ensure that they are sharing their "knowledge bank" with the apprentices
  • Work on frame, body, and mechanical and electrical billable hours
  • Ensure that the 5s standard is maintained in Body, Frame, and Repair Planning

What You Bring:

Red Seal Licence - Auto Body Collision and Repair Technician required

Must poses a valid driver's license and clean driving record

Minimum five years A Tech experience:


  • Minimum five years Frame "pull" experience:
  • Has the knowledge of and the ability to operate machinery and tools required to complete repairs
