    As the successful candidate you will investigate, evaluate, negotiate and settle claims and/or complete task assignments and secure statements on all lines of business. You will meet all service and production objectives, be adept at prioritizing workloads and providing excellent service by understanding and anticipating customers' needs.

    Responsibilities:

  • Adjust claims and/or complete task assignments via face to face on site contact.
  • Provide assistance to policyholders and broker partners by explaining the claims process and policy coverage.
  • Investigate and collect relevant information (statements, police reports, etc.) in order to analyze and facilitate the claim.
  • Document activity in the claims management system (OPUS) thoroughly.
  • Negotiate with the various parties involved to ensure costs are controlled.
  • Propose fair settlement amounts while adhering to company quality standards and policies.
  • Act as a resource and provide support to the Claims team.
  • Complete broker visits to enhance the claims/broker relationship.
  • Arrange for and liaise with contractors, SIU and other experts as required.
  • Work with direct supervision, within given authority.

    • Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation, investigation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Solid knowledge of claims policies and standards
  • Proficiency with computer systems (i.e., Microsoft Products) is an asset.
  • Fluently bilingual (English/French) is a definite asset.

    • Education and Experience

  • University or College degree
  • Enrollment in or completion of the CIP (FCIP) Designation
  • 5+ years commercial and personal lines claim experience in Accident Benefits, Bodily Injury, CGL, Automobile or Property
  • Valid "G class" Driver's License required (*will be required to provide Driver's Abstract).
