This is a truly unique position providing and exciting opportunity for a Heavy Duty Mechanic with an entrepreneurial spirit and positive attitude.     In this exciting role at our International Airport, we are looking for a self-motivated professional with proven skills, work ethic, and attention to detail. The ability to work collaboratively with your team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment will make you an asset to the organization.

    You will leverage your technical skills as a heavy-duty mechanic by performing general mechanical overhaul and maintenance work on a wide variety of Automotive, Specialized and Heavy-Duty equipment such as runway plows and sweepers, loaders, generators, mowers, light and heavy-duty trucks and diesel and gas engines. You will utilize your knowledge of preventative maintenance systems to undertake scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance, inspections, condition assessments and provide repair recommendations.

    In addition, you will be heavily involved in day-to-day operations of the airport, including Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting, airfield maintenance, contractor coordination and assisting with implementing policies and procedures to ensure the safety, security and ongoing efficiency of the Airport.

    The successful candidate will enjoy a shift schedule of four (4) days on, three (3) days off to support the Airport's 24/7 operations schedule. Candidates must be able to work irregular hours occasionally as the role or season dictates.

    As our ideal candidate you will have:

  • Red Seal Trades Qualification (Heavy Duty Equipment or Commercial Transport Vehicle Mechanic);
  • Minimum of five (5) years' trades experience inclusive of airport and supervisory experience;
  • CVSE Authorized Inspector's Certificate for all vehicles (and vehicles with air brakes);
  • Class 3 B.C. Driver's Licence with Air Endorsement; and
  • A satisfactory Police Information Check
    Upon completion of your probation period, you will be required to have the following:
  • Restricted radio License (ROC-A);
  • Airport Rescue Fire-Fighting certification (airport provided) – CARs 303 and CARs 323; and
  • Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP) (airport provided)
    This position is unionized, C.U.P.E Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $38.55 to $45.34 plus a comprehensive, competitive benefits package.
