Job Summary:


Under the general supervision of the Manager, Housing and Employment Services, the Project Coordinator will oversee all aspects of project delivery including the management of the project with employers, community stakeholders, and WorkBC Service Providers to support the participants; carrying out the agreed activities, work experience placement, budget management of the project, managing staffing; maintaining statistics and reports; and ensuring effective communication with the Ministry and WorkBC Service Providers.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Project Supervision

  • Recruit, screen and assess participants for program suitability and eligibility
  • Monitor progress, document, prepare reports for management and funders
  • Assist and followup with clients in the administration of the financial support's component of the program (including training allowances and other program supports payments)
  • Plan and implement marketing and promotional activities to meet the program intake and outcome targets
  • Liaise with Internal / External Service Providers, Employers, Stakeholders as required
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure work experience / placement services delivered to program participants
  • Ensure effective communication with staff and participants
  • Perform other jobrelated duties as assigned from time to time
  • Act as a champion of the program, promoting our services throughout community and networking events
  • Working collaboratively to assist with outcomes of PBLMT team
  • Strategize with leadership to continually improve processes and increase employment statistics
  • May assist with grant and/or proposal writing as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of the program; may participate in other fundraising activities.
  • Document client followup progress notes in electronic database as well as updating individual notes in client files.
  • Prepare monthly program reports that include program/performance metrics
Project Facilitation

  • Facilitate male survivors of violence personal development workshops (e.g., stress, job maintenance, anger management, etc.); provide employment counselling to guide, coach, and support clients; and case conference with WorkBC Case Managers regarding client progress during the project.
  • Administer and interpret assessments to assist participants in the career exploration and decisionmaking process (e.g., interests, values, skills, personality, etc.).
  • Safeguard the dignity of workshop participants by providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Engage adult learners through a variety of instructional methods like roleplaying, team exercises, group discussions and multimedia presentations.
  • Empower participants in the creation of effective selfmarketing material (i.e., resumes, cover letters).
  • Provide participants with useful resource information regarding community resources as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager on the development of curriculum and be willing to adjust to suit participant needs.
  • Create a culture of feedback by proactively evaluating the participants' perception of the usefulness of services provided.
  • Provide technical support to clients using the computer/Internet resources.

Skills and Abilities:


  • Demonstrates a commitment to the mission and values of Kinghaven Peardonville House Society
  • At least three years' experience facilitating diverse groups of unemployed individuals (e.g., substance use, mental health, Indigenous, utilizing principles of Adult Education and Career Development theory.
Trauma-informed and co-occurring disorder competent

Experience working in bed based or community substance use treatment facilities

  • Ability to administer and interpret formal and informal career assessments.
  • Demonstrated competency in providing effective employment services to clients who circumstantially differ from your own background; understanding how substance use behaviors and unstable mental health may hinder the client's effectiveness in job search.
  • Understands and respects diversity and marginalized groups of people, appreciating that all people have the right to access services in their local community; ability to maintain client confidentiality.
  • A skilled communicator who initiates dialogue around important issues in the workplace.
  • Demonstrates resilience, flexibility, a nonjudgmental approach, enthusiasm, and a reflective learning style.
