- surgical services
- internal medicine services (including cardiology and respirology)
- intensive care
- emergency medicine
- obstetrics
- pediatrics
- radiology/diagnostic imaging
- psychiatry/mental health and addiction services
- work a full scope of practice as an anesthesiologist to provide care to the patients within Western Zone
- surgical services covered at VRH include: general surgery, orthopedic surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, urology, ENT (including pediatric inpatients)
- special interest in intensive care and/or pain management would be assets
- participating in call shifts
- provide support to the Western Zone if required, which includes day-time coverage and occasional overnight/weekend coverage
- be responsible to the Zone Anesthesia Department Head for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice
- operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority
- full-time
- equal participation in 1:10 on-call schedule (on-call stipend available)
- all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the (CPSNS)
- all specialists must be eligible for certification with the (RCPSC)
- membership with the (CMPA)

Valley Regional Hospital (VRH) opened its doors to patients in . The hospital serves the people of Kings and Annapolis Counties, and provides specialty services as a referral centre for the Annapolis Valley and other areas of Western Nova Scotia.
Located in Kentville, VRH is a inpatient bed facility that provides inpatient, outpatient, and satellite care to approximately 80, residents. The facility completes approximately 5, cases/year with deliveries/year. There is a full surgical program with after-hours surgical coverage for emergency and non-elective procedures.
