JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties:


  • This is a replacement position in the Dam Safety & Programs portfolio of Project Delivery. The
- position requires excellent communication skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders
- and meet demanding schedules. Projects are typically located at generation, transmission and
- public use areas, and may include a diverse range of facility equipment such as substation
- replacements, fire protection system upgrades, communication and controls upgrades, crane
- refurbishment or replacements, public safety enhancements, and facility security enhancements
- throughout the Province.

  • Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Acting as a senior project manager in Project Delivery for multiple projects with medium to high
risk/impact/complexity and with significant regulatory oversight.- Acting as a Program Manager for projects being delivered by External Service Providers.

  • Developing project plans, including scope, budget, schedule, and project team responsibilities to
accomplish project objectives.- Developing and presenting business cases, preparing project reports and, at completion,

finalizing all financial transactions and final reporting requirements.- Managing the full life cycle of the project within agreed upon scope, timeline, and budget, using

considerable innovation in the planning, analysis and execution of tasks and judgment in the
- assessment and resolution of unusual problems.
  • Monitoring project progress to ensure the work is carried out in the most costeffective manner.
  • Ensuring that internal and external resources with appropriate skill sets are provided,
- establishing commercial arrangements with consultants and contractors as required, assigning
- work and providing instructions, advice and technical leadership and guidance to project staff;
- and, reviewing work in progress and assessing completed work for accuracy, required results and
- quality assurance.
  • Leading and coaching professional project teams with various experience levels to successfully
track and deliver on assigned projects that draw on internal and external resources which include

  • Stakeholder Relations, Indigenous Relations, Engineering, Environment, Finance, Regulatory,
  • Properties, Operations, Legal Counsel, Safety, and others.solutions.
  • Demonstrating independent judgment outside of identified guidelines for critical project problems.
  • Supporting BC Hydro Project and Program Management (PPM) compliance across the portfolio
and may act as a Project Independent Reviewer (PIR) to other projects.- Ensuring the quality of project documentation is aligned with the intent of BC Hydro's PPM

Practice and reflective of the complexity and risks of the project


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as Engineering, Business, or Environmental
Sciences or equivalent.- Project Management Certification is preferred.

  • 9 to 12 years related experience in fields of expertise within an electric utility or similar
environment, with considerable project management knowledge, skills, and experience, as
- demonstrated by successful project management of projects up to and/or over $100M in value.
  • Ability to operate in a fastpaced dynamic environment, adjusting strategies in response to site
conditions, supplier or contractor issues, and other challenges.- Demonstrated ability to understand and deliver on the intent of PPM deliverables while


communicating and managing risks and supporting others to manage deliverables to this intent.- Proven leadership ability in managing, motivating, and developing a team.


  • Preferred field experience engaging with plant operations and construction management
personnel.- Excellent report writing, communication, facilitation, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal

skills.- Well developed planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated experience related to generation or transmission projects would be a valuable
asset.
