    The Product and Data Management Team in the Government Services Integration Cluster (GSIC) is looking for highly skilled data analyst to enhance the ministry's evidence-informed decision-making by applying cutting-edge data tools and technology to government and consumer data


    Our work includes:

    • Building a data analytics platform that can handle real-time requests cutting across many business units.
    • Exploring, analyzing, and deriving new insights from our data assets.
    • Automating data preparation and analysis processes.

    What can I expect to do in this role?

    As a Data analyst, you will work with a large team of data engineers, data scientists and data stewards to deliver solutions to tangible, real-world problems.

    Things to expect in this role:

    • Creating compelling data products and services by means of visualization, prescriptive and predictive analytics, and data stories
    • Designing data flow and data models and getting involved in data design discussion.
    • Connecting and working with your colleagues beyond ministry lines to deliver integrated data, analytics, and data science services

    How do I qualify?

    Technical Knowledge and Expertise:



    • You are highly skilled and experienced in working with data querying languages (e.g. SQL, Hive, Cypher) and/or data science programming languages (e.g. Python) and platforms like Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Power BI, Data Lake, Synapse, Microsoft SharePoint, Dynamics CRM, Azure Storage, ADF, and Azure Analysis Service .
    • You have proven knowledge and understanding of data management principles, technologies, and best practices for working with high-volume structured and unstructured data assets.
    • You have demonstrated knowledge of Power BI functions such as analytics, data modeling and mining, reporting, data cleansing, DAX, and Power Query.
    • You can recommend improvements to streamline processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, usability, and value.
    • You can work with analyst and clients to implement and improve data models and processes, and curate data from multiple sources for integrated reporting in an enterprise environment.

    Problem-Solving and Strategic Thinking Skills:




    • You can investigate problems, challenge assumptions, and make sense of information.
    • You can creatively think and propose innovative ways to look at problems by using data mining approaches on the set of information available.
    • You make sure the right questions are being asked, solicit feedback, and iterate until you reach meaningful conclusions backed by solid analysis.
    • You can create a better user experience through constant feedback mechanisms and are skilled in transforming ideas generated through user research.

    Leadership and Project Management Skills:




    • You have experience working on projects with multiple team members and competing priorities.
    • You have effective teamwork skills to collaborate and build strong relationships with team members and internal ministry users to support development and implementation of client solutions.
    • You have experience working on data projects and delivering them in an agile, iterative, and lean manner.

    Communication Skills:




    • You can effectively articulate ideas and options that involve analysis, interpretation, and assessment.
    • You can create standard analytics products for communication of analytics results, such as slide decks, reports, and methodology documents.
    • You are able to articulate data and information gathered into meaningful insights that can facilitate strategy and decision-making for government services.
