About the Opportunity:


The Secretary exhibits sound judgment and initiative while working within the philosophy, objectives, guidelines, legislations, policies and procedures, Mission, Vision and Strategic Direction of Mental Health & Addictions and incorporates into daily practice the Core Competencies and Values of the Nova Scotia Health.


About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade 12 plus successful completion of a recognized secretarial program and a medical terminology course
  • Minimum two years' recent experience in a responsible secretarial position in a healthrelated field
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), Meditech, and Community-Wide Scheduling, with the ability to acquire additional skills (SAP; ASist database), required
  • Accurate keyboarding skills with a minimum speed of 45 wpm with a maximum five (5) percent error rate
  • Superior organizational, communication (listening, oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently as well as demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Ability to be flexible in adapting to changing operational requirements
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
  • Ability to deal calmly and tactfully with stressful situation
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional interpersonal relationships with all levels of staff and clients
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness and organizational health
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
