Purpose and Accountability
This is a call for external existing leaders/assistant principals who are interested in school leadership Assistant Principal opportunities with the Calgary Board of Education.

Inclusive Education:
- Strong understanding and commitment to a way of thinking and acting that demonstrates and promotes equal opportunities for all learners (Inclusive Education Alberta). Demonstrated leadership experience in establishing and maintaining a continuum of supports and learning opportunities that address diverse learning needs and wellbeing.
Indigenous Education:
- Strong knowledge of wise practices in Indigenous Education and understanding of Indigenous ways of being, belonging, doing and knowing (CBE Indigenous Education Holistic Lifelong Learning Framework). Demonstrated leadership experience in establishing and supporting the conditions under which the learning aspirations and the potential of Indigenous students is realized.
Second Language Education- (French, Mandarin and Spanish) CBE Languages pedagogy is based on the Neurolinguistics approach. An understanding of this approach is essential.

High School Education- A strong understanding of learning excellence and how to support students explore new ideas, develop additional interests, build relationships and pursue goals. Has experience leading strong task design and assessment and an in-depth knowledge of the Alberta Education Programs of Study. Collaborates with high schools and community partners to give students more flexibility in accessing various programs, courses and learning experiences.
Reporting to the Principal, the Assistant Principal is responsible for cooperating with the Principal in all matters concerning the organization and operation of the school.
The Assistant Principal supports the Principal in their legislated responsibility and accountability for optimizing student learning while meeting the obligations and responsibilities of the Education Act and all other appropriate statutes, in addition to policies, regulations, and procedures of the Board.
This position is accountable for:
- discharging all responsibilities delegated by the principal;
- keeping their principal informed on any matters that affect the school program;
- acting as the principal's representative in the school and community;
- assuming the responsibilities of principal during their principal's absence; and
- assuming roles as defined and assigned in consultation with their school principal.
