Job Title:
Energy Modeler


Primary Job function:
to perform energy simulations, utility consumption calculations throughout the design process. To prepare energy model submissions for NECB, ASHRAE 90.1, BC Step Code, Toronto Green Standard, LEED Compliances. Prepare life cycle energy cost analysis


Essential roles and Responsibilities:


  • Gather relevant inputs for modelling from architectural, mechanical, electrical, and structural drawings. assess the envelope and perform thermal bridging calculations with FEA package
  • Create Energy Modelling and conduct simulations
  • Provide detailed reports to communicate the findings to the team and client
  • Technical problem solving, critical thinking, and providing advice to the project team
  • Maintains LEED and Build Green Documentation

Required Skills:


  • Our primary simulation tool is DesignBuilder. Proficiency in this GUI or any EnergyPlus software package is required.
  • Experience with eQUEST, RETScreen, HOT2000, etc. considered an asset
  • Experience with THERM and WINDOW
  • Experience with FEA and CFD packages considered an asset
  • Thorough understanding of engineering design principles, engineering drawings, building systems, building codes, building envelope, and construction systems
  • Effective report writing and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Thrive in a fastpaced working environment
  • Proficiency in MS office suite, cloudbased computer system
  • Ability to identify potential risks and report them to the project team

Required Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree related to buildings, HVAC, or energy efficiency
  • Master's degree considered an asset
  • In good standing with applicable regulatory agency
  • Minimum 1 year in building energy modelling performance
