Rate of Pay:
As per Job Band 7 ($62,092.76-$75,474.14)

Terms and conditions of employment, including wages, are in accordance with the AVRCE Terms and Conditions of Employment for Non-Union Employees (Managerial).

Reporting to the Assistant Coordinator of Property Services, the Property Services Supervisor Electrical will provide services to ensure that schools and worksites operate efficiently and effectively, that all sites and facilities are held to the highest safety measures and maintained in accordance with Provincial Regulations and Policies.


Required Qualifications and Experience:


  • Relevant technical degree, certificate, or license in a certified trade, Red Seal (preference Electrician)
  • Minimum five years' experience working in the operation and/or maintenance of facilities preferred.
  • Minimum five years' experience supervising employees in a similar environment is preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience with electrical systems.
  • Experience with automated control systems.
  • Experience with AutoCAD considered an asset.
  • Relevant licenses, training and courses would be considered an asset.
  • Valid Nova Scotia driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities and Abilities:

The Property Services Supervisor Electrical responsibilities and abilities include:

  • Manage electrical and life safety systems (fire alarms, security, and lockdown) including operation, maintenance, modification, improvements, and new installations.
  • Ensure that buildings are safe and maintained to operate as designed.
  • Ensure Occupational Health and Safety work practices and procedures are followed by staff and contractors.
  • Review and prioritize work requests in assigned area (work includes maintenance, modifications, improvements, or new installations).
  • Ensure all building renovations and construction meet the requirements of applicable codes and regulations.
  • Responsible for all work performed by staff and contractors. Ensure safe, effective, and efficient execution of work.
  • The ability to direct and perform work practices and procedures in accordance with all appropriate policies, guidelines, standards, codes, and collective agreements.
  • The ability to develop, provide or arrange training and/or coaching.
  • Liaise with other departments and schools regarding Property Services.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication and organizational skills.
