IT Support Specialist

Reports to:
Manager, Data Science and Web Development


Fixed-Term until March 31, 2024


Based in Ottawa, ON

Job Duties

  • Install and configure computer hardware, software, printers, scanners and phones.
  • Testing, draft documentation, training and deployment of various software and hardware.
  • Monitor and maintain computers and software.
  • Respond in a timely manner to service issues and requests
  • Log and process support requests using JIRA Help Center
  • Provide technical support across the company in person or remotely
  • Investigate, diagnose and solve computer software and hardware faults
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns
  • Set up and provide onboarding accounts for new users
  • Maintain records of software licenses
  • Manage inventory of equipment, consumables and other supplies and repair and replace equipment as necessary
  • Test and evaluate new technology
  • Assist other staff in special events and activities as requested by immediate supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • Degree, diploma or certification in a computer related field and/or three years of experience in a related industry
  • Knowledge of IT principles, security principles, concepts, and methods
  • Knowledge of systems testing and evaluation principles, methods, and tools
  • Experience of using and supporting MS Office 365 tools
  • Knowledge of Networks and related methodologies
  • Must have a strong familiarity with PC hardware, software and peripherals in a Windows environment.
  • Understanding of Windows Active Directory, Network Drive and file storage
  • Knowledge printers, copier, MFPs, fax, and other peripheral
  • Ability to adapt to new technology
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing

Work Conditions

  • Fixedterm position until March 31, 2024 pending funding approval
  • Based at CWF's Head Office in Ottawa, ON with flexibility to work from home two consecutive days per week.
  • Interaction with employees and management
  • Working in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional overtime
