About the Role

We are recruiting for a Data Scientist to join our Data Science team. The Data Scientist creates data stories in order for the business to achieve its corporate objectives.

As a Data Scientist, you will partner closely with the business and identify the areas of opportunities that will help with achieving efficiencies in inventory management, customer experience, supply chain, finance and Information Technology.


This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your 7+ years of experience working with data analytics tools in order to build descriptive and predictive analytical solutions that are based on statistical models and advanced analytical capabilities.

About Your Day

  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques to provide regular, timely and accurate reports to internal departments
  • Develop and utilize data science algorithms and models to perform data mining
  • Help and define test data and environment requirements
  • Build efficient and accurate data models in a testing environment
  • Run test cases and develop error management strategies to assess model assumptions and evaluate performance
  • Receive data from primary or secondary data sources and accurately maintain databases and data systems
  • Identify, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in multifaceted data sets
  • Filter, clean and validate data for uniformity and accuracy
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, and data analytics to optimize statistical proficiency and quality
  • Compile data insights into digestible and actional format for the Data team
  • Create reports and dashboards/visualizations for internal stakeholders
  • Ensure KPI's are reviewed daily, weekly, monthly and perform analysis on behavior and processes that could affect data integrity
  • Locate and define new process improvements
  • Enable effective decision making by retrieving and aggregating data from multiple sources into a digestible and actionable format
  • Partner with Data Engineers to get the access of analytical data models
  • Communicate analytical solutions to internal stakeholders and provide recommendations for business process improvements
  • Participate in Proof of Concept or Proof of Technology projects to evaluate cybersecurity technologies and platforms
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Merchandising, Finance, Wholesale teams to identify opportunities for business process improvements, and make recommendation for system modifications
  • Provide guidance and share expertise with project teams to support business initiatives
About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field of study and/or equivalent level of education and experience
  • Certifications in Data Science tools and/or technologies is an asset
  • 7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence development roles working with data and analytic tools
  • Experience with Data Analysis, eCommerce, Retail and Business Analytics is strong asset
  • Experience with statistical computer languages (R, SAS, Python, SLQ, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
  • Experience with Data Visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
  • Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics (e.g., regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.)
  • Experience analyzing data from 3rd party providers (e.g., Google Analytics, Eloqua)
  • Experience with distributed data/computing tools (e.g., Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, MySQL)
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their realworld advantages/drawbacks
  • Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques (e.g., GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.)
  • Strong analytic skills with ability to clean, organize, analyze, and visualize data
  • Intermediate programming skills in R, and/or Python
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and SQL Server
