Research Associate - Halifax, Canada - Davis Pier Consulting
Description
Responsibilities:
- Design evaluation frameworks aligned with project objectives and requirements
- Supporting the development of field experiments
- Develop data collection plans and data analysis strategies to answer key evaluation questions
- Create and test data collection instruments and protocols
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis for a range of research and evaluation projects
- Work with clients and partners to codesign and implement evaluation activities, including training and technical assistance
- Monitor data collection activities and conduct data quality assurance
- Prepare effective communication materials to share with partners and stakeholders
- Conduct jurisdictional scans, literature searches and evidence reviews to inform evidenceinformed decisionmaking
- Provide policy analysis and program design support
- Write reports and prepare presentations to effectively communicate research results and recommendations to a range of technical and nontechnical audiences
- Conduct project coordination activities including developing project schedules and work plans, organizing meetings, managing documents and tracking activities
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in behavioural science, economics, sociology, psychology, public administration, political science, population health or related field
- Expertise in qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
- Academic or jobrelated experience conducting evaluations of social programs is highly desired
- Experience designing randomized control experiments
- Experience designing data collection instruments including surveys and/or interview protocols
- Experience in research, public policy analysis and program design. Related research expertise in employment and skills development sector would be an asset.
- Experience leading and managing the delivery of projects with proven ability in project planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with a strong ability to convey complex ideas and information to nontechnical audiences
- Strong motivation and commitment to research excellence, generating new ideas, exchanging and mobilizing knowledge, and continuous improvement
- Ability to make appropriate decisions in the face of complexity or uncertainty, identify and manage risks, and act to address issues when necessary
- Proficiency with statistics software (e.g. STATA, R, Python, SPSS, SAS,, etc.)
