Maintenance/Process Technician

Reports to - Maintenance Group Leader


Hours of Work - 40 Hours


Role


Specializing in usage of PLCs (Programming and Trouble Shooting), focus on Trouble Shooting unplanned Down Time events, debugging, repairing, improving, installing of new or modified production and test equipment from the perspective of electrical, mechanical and vision systems.

Mentor/improve skillset of team.


Responsibilities

  • Observes all safety rules and maintains an orderly workplace
  • Troubleshoot machine breakdowns in a timely manner to minimize loss of production (excellent controls troubleshooting)
  • PLC knowledge Allen Bradley, TI, and Schneider Modicon
  • Lead a team from project design to installation
  • Mentor/improve team's skillset
  • Give direction to others to complete the projects/tasks
  • Modify older machine controls to meet modern day code requirements
  • Work from wiring diagrams or oral instructions to wire or assemble equipment
  • Maintain inventory of parts and equipment. Must be capable of specifying and sourcing materials and equipment to best suit requirements
  • Respond to all breakdown related calls as quickly as possible
  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives improving existing methods, systems and looking for better ways of approaching a problem
  • Compete all associated paperwork and make daily entries into computerized maintenance system of all work performed
  • Prepare technical documentation, user and maintenance manuals, setup procedures etc.
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications, Education And / or Experience

  • A technical diploma or engineering degree (mechanical/electrical/software)
  • 2 5 years' experience in an automated manufacturing environment
  • Hands on technical skills with respect to robotics, PLC Programming, electrical & mechanical engineering
  • Very good understanding of electrical drawing packages
  • Understanding of machine safety, (Safety Relays and Safety PLC's)
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Experience using ABB Robots in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work with Manufacturing Vision Systems

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Collingwood, ON L9Y 4V8: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
