Responsibilities include accurately and efficiently preparing and producing a varied selection of food.

  • Providing leadership to the culinary team, reinforcing high standards of excellence, and leading by example, addressing customer concerns in a professional manner.
  • Developing cyclical menus (3 meals per day / 7 days per week), recipes, and special event menus.
  • Preparation of creative, diverse menus for the dining facilities and highend special event functions including preparation of soups, specials of the day, vegetables, sauces, gravies, etc.
  • Performing ordering of all necessary food supplies required for weekly production in coordination with the Director of Food Services.
  • Working with the Director of Food Services in development, implementation, and monitoring of the dining budget.
  • Motivate staff new and / or current, train employees as required and evaluate employee performance.
  • Ensures recruitment, performance evaluation, coaching and corrective measures, where necessary, are in accordance with Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Promote and enforce health and safety regulations and promote safety awareness in workplace.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years in a role as Chef of a medium to large kitchen; volume cooking and catering experience also required
  • Thorough knowledge of related legislation, pertinent to food handling, safety such as Health Unit regulations
  • A vulnerable sector check with be required as this is a position of trust and/or authority of children or otherwise vulnerable persons.
  • Highly effective communication skills: Ability to direct and supervise small and large groups of employees
  • Creativity
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and instructions, as well as to adapt them
  • Exceptional organizational abilities

Salary:
$50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year

Experience:


  • Cooking: 2 years (preferred)
  • Leadership: 3 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Food Handlers (preferred)
