Why is this role important?

  • In this role you will work on individual assignments or as part of a team on a widerange of projects to support CIHI's relationships with stakeholders. As a coop student you will be involved in a variety of activities that support our priority objectives that help drive CIHI's overall mandate to deliver on better data, better decisions, for healthier Canadians. This opportunity will expose you to areas of health system decision making and planning, data and analytics, information summary and synthesis.
  • What you'll do
  • Provide assistance with background research, project requirements, feasibility assessments, data analyses and other activities.
  • Conducts basic information assembly and data analysis to support reports and studies.
  • Assist in the creation of project plans, Gantt charts and work plans to reflect budget, milestones and required resourcing and monitors progress of projects.
  • Prepare meeting summaries, project status updates and change reports as required.
  • Assist in the writing of interim and final reports/documents related to assigned special studies.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of national, provincial and regional issues relating to healthcare, health information and stakeholder information needs.
  • Participate in the development of briefing notes, backgrounders, articles, reports and other documents as required.
What you'll bring to the table

  • Working towards a graduate degree in Public Administration, Health Information Science or other related discipline.
  • Proficient with MS Office suite, particularly MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and research; experience with SAS, R and Python is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external stakeholders both verbally and written.
  • Strong attention to detail and problemsolving skills.
