The Canadian Arab Women Association (CAWA) is a non-profit organization established with the purpose of connecting, supporting and empowering Canadian Arab women in Waterloo Region and Guelph in Ontario, Canada.

We represent a group of women who self-identify as Arabs and come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, regardless of their religious beliefs, socio-economic status, and educational levels.

CAWA is dedicated to becoming a bridge that connects Arab women and supports them with different resources and programs, so that they can be active members of the Waterloo Region community and in the larger Canadian society.

For that, CAWA provides various programs in the fields of health, education, and social support.


As the Social Media & Content Coordinator with CAWA you will be responsible for increasing community awareness of CAWA by increasing the organization's online presence and followers across all platforms.

You will be responsible for the management of CAWA's social media presence on multiple platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Twitter, WhatsApp, and YouTube.

You will report to the founder and executive director.

This is a fixed-term contract expected to end in September 2023 with opportunity for renewal. We're looking for someone to start
ASAP.


Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage private social media groups
  • Introduce topics and keep discussions flowing to engage members
  • Act as moderator as necessary on all CAWA pages across social media platforms
  • Responsible for creating social media content to highlight CAWA's community impacts on a regular basis
  • Work with CAWA Management Team to produce the organization's impact report and create content to promote it online
  • Work closely with the Management Team to create and post content to support programs and fundraising efforts
  • Design marketing materials for programs and events including flyers and videos
  • Conduct regular live interviews
  • Conduct weekly radio episodes of Arabic songs
  • Attendance at onsite events for filming
  • Respond to any inquiries through social media, CAWA's website, and private messages
  • Update CAWA's website as needed
  • Any duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience

  • Fluency in both Arabic and English (written and spoken) is required
  • Postsecondary degree in Communications, Digital Marketing, or a related field and/or 1 year of experience in Social Media is considered an asset
  • Experience with key social media platforms is required: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Twitter, WhatsApp, and YouTube
  • Up to date on trends in social media and marketing and all applicable technologies
  • Understanding of best practices in search engine optimization (SEO), social media, and engagement metrics
  • Experience developing, executive social media strategies, and reporting on their effectiveness is preferred
  • Experience managing social communities is preferred

Schedule

  • 30 hours/week. Work hours are generally during the weekday. However, this role requires flexible hours and work in the evenings or weekends to attend events and hold education sessions
