    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    Startec Compression & Process is currently recruiting a Apprentice Pipefitter to work at our Shepard Shop (9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6). The candidate will work in our Hydro department in an industrial fabrication setting, specifically working on compression and process equipment packages. Reporting to the Spooling Supervisor, this person will play a vital role in the success of hydrotesting or pneumatic testing. Safety is paramount in this role, and the successful candidate must adhere to all relevant codes and regulations while maintaining a clean and organized work area.

    KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):

    PIPE FABRICATION (Weighting 70%)Pipe Fabrication & Installation
  • Use various hand and powered tools and equipment safely while abiding by the health & safety rules/regulations
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, and helping other maintain their work areas
  • Reading and interpreting P&ID (piping and instrumentation drawings) and GA's (general assembly) drawings to assist with assembly processing piping systems.
  • Assist with the installation of supports, valves, piping and control systems
  • Measuring, cutting, threading, and bending pipe
  • Handling/rigging and bolting of spools
  • Threading joints to join pipes and fabrication sections of piping systems
  • Performing hydro test on spool assemblies to the companies procedures
  • Adherence to industry standards, customer specification on detailed drawings, and company general practices
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Apprentice Pipefitter certification or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum 1 years experience as a pipefitting or labourer in a relevant department, demonstrating proficiency in fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical, alcohol, and drug test
  • Familiarity with various pipe materials/grade would be considered an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and practices related to pipefitting/benchfitting/fabrication work.
  • Good physical condition and stamina to perform manual labor and work in various conditions.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
