SUMMER STUDENT - Administrative Assistant 2024:
Period:
June 17, August 25, 2024


Number of positions: 1

Hours/week: 30 hours per week

Wage:
$17.50 per hour


The Summer Student Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support and assist with various functions in any of the following: HR, IT and/or scheduling departments.

Some of the duties may include but are not limited to:


  • Support new hire orientations and any tasks required to bring a new employee into the agency.
  • Administration of any records including: employee, agency, policies, etc.
  • Assist in development of report(s) to share with internal and external partners.
  • Ensure accuracy in all documentations and deliverables.
  • Perform examination and document the redundant IT/AV equipment to determine future use.
  • Support team by planning and coordinating day to day activities and provide any additional support.
  • All other admin support as required such as adhoc reporting, photocopying, filing, booking meeting rooms, etc.
  • Works within and nurtures a team environment as well as working independently.


The summer student will work in a manner which effectively models and reinforces RYGIEL's established Vision, Mission, Values, attitudes and standards of support.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Current Criminal Reference Check vulnerable sector
  • Currently a full time student in a relevant postsecondary education (University or Community College) and/or returning to full time school in the fall of 202
  • Meets the eligibility criteria to qualify for wage subsidy with the Canada Summer Jobs program for the 2024 year
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (MS word, MS excel, MS PowerPoint, Teams), Zoom and PC troubleshooting
  • IT knowledge and/or education in hardware and equipment is an asset
  • Networking experience and knowledge of various assistive devices is an asset
  • Ongoing commitment to and participation in continuous learning
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificate is an asset
  • Valid driver's license and availability of a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage is an asset

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

Interpersonal Communication

  • Maintaining constructive, open, honest, twoway communication with the individuals being supported, families, support staff, management and other team members
  • Demonstrated oral and written English language proficiency appropriate to the language requirements of the position and specific to the individuals being supported. Fluency in French is an asset.
  • Organizes and completes tasks independently under the supervision of the designated department manager
Problem Solving/Decision Making

  • Systematically seeking alternative solutions to identify or anticipate problems, and to respond to emerging opportunities or needs
  • Making appropriate decisions regarding actions to be taken in consultation with other team members
Availability

  • Monday to Friday day shift at the specific, assigned work site (this is not a remote position)
