SUMMER STUDENT - Administrative Assistant 2024:
Period:
June 17, August 25, 2024

Number of positions: 1

Hours/week: 30 hours per week

Wage:
$17.50 per hour

The Summer Student Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support and assist with various functions in any of the following: HR, IT and/or scheduling departments.

Some of the duties may include but are not limited to:

Support new hire orientations and any tasks required to bring a new employee into the agency.
Administration of any records including: employee, agency, policies, etc.
Assist in development of report(s) to share with internal and external partners.
Ensure accuracy in all documentations and deliverables.
Perform examination and document the redundant IT/AV equipment to determine future use.
Support team by planning and coordinating day to day activities and provide any additional support.
All other admin support as required such as adhoc reporting, photocopying, filing, booking meeting rooms, etc.
Works within and nurtures a team environment as well as working independently.

The summer student will work in a manner which effectively models and reinforces RYGIEL's established Vision, Mission, Values, attitudes and standards of support.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Current Criminal Reference Check vulnerable sector
Currently a full time student in a relevant postsecondary education (University or Community College) and/or returning to full time school in the fall of 202
Meets the eligibility criteria to qualify for wage subsidy with the Canada Summer Jobs program for the 2024 year
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (MS word, MS excel, MS PowerPoint, Teams), Zoom and PC troubleshooting
IT knowledge and/or education in hardware and equipment is an asset
Networking experience and knowledge of various assistive devices is an asset
Ongoing commitment to and participation in continuous learning
Current CPR and First Aid Certificate is an asset
Valid driver's license and availability of a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage is an asset

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

Interpersonal Communication

Maintaining constructive, open, honest, twoway communication with the individuals being supported, families, support staff, management and other team members
Demonstrated oral and written English language proficiency appropriate to the language requirements of the position and specific to the individuals being supported. Fluency in French is an asset.
Organizes and completes tasks independently under the supervision of the designated department manager

Problem Solving/Decision Making

Systematically seeking alternative solutions to identify or anticipate problems, and to respond to emerging opportunities or needs
Making appropriate decisions regarding actions to be taken in consultation with other team members

Availability

Monday to Friday day shift at the specific, assigned work site (this is not a remote position)
