- Providing supervisor responsibility coverage for the welding foreman when they are absent from site.
- Making every effort to meet or exceed the planned time requirements for welding activities
- Verify scopes of work, timelines and materials required on work generated from inspections and break-in schedule work requirements
- Complete concise, accurate cross over notes detailing work completed, work in-progress and upcoming requirements for the next shift.
- Assist with counting, ordering and storage of inventory for consumables, gasses, steel and parts
- Assist in creation of WO's generated from inspections and unplanned work
- Assist supervision verifying work is being completed in a timely fashion, ensuring all work practices conform to applicable safety practices and are aligned with New Gold values, maintenance best practices and CWB/CSA code
- Ensure work schedule and inspections for the week are fully executed with proper record keeping and signoffs completed
- Ensure GET changeouts are accurately recorded in N:Drive w/ machine hrs
- Assist in the professional development and mentoring of skills of the crew members with a special focus on apprentices

- Interprovincial Welder certification
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Related technical knowledge
- SAP or similar CMMS experience
- Demonstrated skills in communication, organization, leadership, and Microsoft Office Suite

Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. The role of the Welding Lead Hand is to lead and influence the safe and efficient delivery of reliability centered maintenance practices and programs for the mining fleet with a specific focus on the welding team in conformance with New Gold's policies and procedures including cultural, safety and environmental conformance.
