East York/East Toronto Family Resources (EYET) is a non-profit multi-service agency providing a range of services, resources and supports to individuals, families and the community in key areas: early learning and child care, housing, outreach and community services within a community development and capacity building framework. Position Summary


EYET is currently seeking experienced Client Receptionist applicants for a Temporary 6-Month Contract (with possibility of renewal) Full-time position in the EYET Housing Services Department.

The successful applicant, with direction from the Manager, Housing Services provides administrative and front-line customer service to the Housing Services site.

They interface with the public over the phone and in-person and answers general enquiries with a high level of customer service, tact, and diplomacy.

The Client Receptionist sorts correspondence and resources and provides direct client support as part of the Housing services team responsible for improving and enhancing the Housing department's daily operations.


Key Responsibilities Include

  • Routes internal calls accordingly as requested by the Manager;
  • Assists and supports the team with administrative tasks such as making phone calls, data entry, wordprocessing, filing, faxing, photocopying, and scanning documents;
  • Ensures the front office area and kitchenette area is cleaned and well organized (e.g. floors/mats vacuumed, garbage/recycle disposal);
  • Performs other relevant duties/activities as assigned, by the Manager, Housing Services;
  • Tracks, sorts, and distributes incoming mail, faxes, courier packages to staff and ensures outgoing mail and courier packages are sent appropriately;
  • Performs necessary tasks for opening and closing the Housing Services site, including setting up the client reception area;
  • Maintains the office supplies/resource materials, ensuring everything is fully stocked, notifying the Manager, Housing Services if inventory is low
  • Assists staff in the coordination of meetings, events, and programs including organization and printing of materials, room bookings, ordering refreshments, and room setup;
  • Distributes program materials to clients, the public and/or community partners under the direction of the Manager, Housing Services
  • Reports any facility issues to the Manager, Housing Services

Minimum Qualifications

  • A diploma from an Ontario Secondary School (OSSD);
  • Preferred 2 years of relevant postsecondary education or 2 years of relevant work experience;
  • At least 2 years of clerical experience working in a communitybased or professional services environment;
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills;
  • Excellent customer service experience, with an ability to interact calmly and confidently with members of the public;
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to multitask;
  • Proficiency in the use of office equipment (i.e. fax machine, photocopier, audio/visual equipment)
  • Strong understanding of equitable and inclusive practices, and an ability to be aware and appropriate when communicating with clients and/or partners and EYET staff;
  • Very good English language writing and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to work as a team player in a dynamic and evolving working environment;
  • Ability to deal effectively with conflict and problem solve
