To be successful as a Business Development Manager (BDM), you will possess a working knowledge of our company's technical products and services and be able to relate this knowledge in a way that is understandable to non-technical customers.

You will be driven to achieve Cayenta's business development goals and should have excellent presentation and customer service skills.


What your impact will be:

  • Business Development Activity
  • The BDM will work to generate new opportunities with prospective customers in their assigned market segment and follow those opportunities through to close. Business Development Activities are all outbound activities that result in a meaningful conversation with decisionmakers, in which at least one significant piece of qualification information is gathered.


  • Funnel Management

  • The BDM is responsible for maintaining a sales funnel that is in line with achieving their annual revenue targets. The BDM must consider their opportunity to close ratios and ensure that they are identifying enough opportunities and managing those opportunities through the sales stages to meet established revenue goals.


  • Communications

  • The BDM's written and verbal communication with clients and colleagues must be clear, effective, professional and efficient. The work produced by the BDM is professional, accurate and generally free of errors. This includes CRM reporting, cost models and customer proposals.


  • Presentations and Demonstration

  • The BDM will participate in all product demonstrations for their prospective client and lead the demos, where possible.


  • Strategic Relationships

  • The BDM will identify and establish business relationships with strategic partners, resellers and clients in target markets.


  • Reporting

  • Cayenta tracks all activities related to business development in our Client Relationship Management (CRM) system. As BDM, you will be required to ensure that your activities related to opportunities are up to date in the CRM platform to ensure executive dashboards have accurate data.


  • Maintain Product Knowledge

  • It is imperative that you that the BDM maintain uptodate knowledge of the solutions that Cayenta provides, and solutions provided by our partners.

What we are looking for:

  • Post-Secondary Education with a concentration on business or equivalent experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of industry sales experience
  • Experience with ERP software solutions, preferably in utilities or local government.
  • Ability to Travel in Noth America up to 50% and a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Selling to customer needs and comfortable with presenting to customers.
  • Software requirement analysis and technical product knowledge
  • Creative writing & business math proficiency
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Works, Excell, PowerPoint, Visio)

  • Prior exposure to Cayenta ERP software is advantageous
