About the Position
The EXPO Security Team is currently seeking a Security Guard to join our team. The Security Guard will be responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for staff, guests, clients, and visitors at the Edmonton EXPO Centre. This role conducts proactive mobile patrols, responds to alarms and incidents, supports event operations, enforces applicable legislation and policies, and provides customer-focused security services. The Security Guard operates both independently and collaboratively while upholding organizational standards and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Provide a safe and welcoming environment for staff, guests, and clients.
- Conduct proactive interior and exterior mobile patrols of facilities, parking lots, perimeters, and surrounding areas using a marked security vehicle and/or foot patrol.
- Conduct investigations related to damage, mischief, theft, or other security-related concerns identified on site.
- Respond to alarms and confirm validity prior to contacting emergency services when required.
- Monitor facility security operations and support Event Security Guards during events.
- Support organizational communication through established chain-of-command reporting procedures.
- Understand crowd dynamics, individual behaviour, and safety risks and intervene appropriately when necessary.
- Enforce company policies and procedures while applying knowledge of relevant Acts, statutes, laws, and municipal bylaws.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide First Aid/CPR/AED as required.
- Assist with traffic control, access control, and parking enforcement during events or high-traffic periods.
- Lock and unlock facilities as required and ensure the security of doors, gates, and restricted areas.
- Provide customer service support by offering directions, answering inquiries, and assisting guests.
- Investigate and document irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, unsecured doors, or other safety concerns.
- Investigate, report, and document incidents accurately and thoroughly in accordance with reporting standards.
- Complete patrol logs, vehicle inspection reports, and occurrence reports.
- Support and assist with Event Staff training when required.
- Maintain accurate daily activity logs and ensure proper documentation of all enforcement and incident activities.
The successful candidate will have:
- Minimum 6 months of service industry related experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Alberta Security Services and Investigators Act License (SSIA License)
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Ability to obtain a clean drivers' abstract
- ProServe and ProTect certification
- Knowledge of applicable Criminal Code statutes, Provincial legislation, and Municipal bylaws
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work12-hourshiftwork including overnights
- Ability to perform prolonged driving and frequent entry/exit of patrol vehicle.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Standard First Aid Level C with AED, Verbal Judo, PPCT or CTSS considered an asset
- Ability to work independently with sound judgment and professionalism
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, customer service environment and deliver extraordinary moments to guests and employees– taken out last posting
- Ability to deliver key services using a customer-service-focused approach
- Strong observation skills and attention to detail
