- extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in all areas of this teaching assignment
- knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
- Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major or minor in English
- minimum of 5 years of demonstrated excellence as a Secondary School teacher
- demonstrated experience providing leadership in co-teaching, and offering own classroom/practice as a demonstration classroom for mentoring
- demonstrated leadership organizing and facilitating opportunities for student voice and agency
- demonstrated examples of ability and experiences in communicating, consulting, coaching and collaborating with colleagues in Indigenizing Curriculum in secondary school classrooms
- demonstrated knowledge, understanding and application of the First Peoples Principles of Learning
- demonstrated ability to collaborate and plan presentations for colleagues in district, schools and/or staff learning and/or pro-d events
- demonstrated commitment to collaborate for implementation of Halq'eme'ylem Language in cross-curricular lesson planning
- demonstrated evidence of strong interpersonal skills with the ability to be innovative and creative in order to support students learning
- preference may be given to candidates of Indigenous descent
