BOARD OF DIRECTOR VOLUNTEER POSITION - THE GLEBE CENTRE
The Glebe Centre has been the cornerstone of care for older residents in Ottawa for over 130 years. It was Ontario's first home for the aged.
The Glebe Centre, a not-for-profit organization, is dedicated to providing a comfortable and safe environment and person-focused services and programs that have a positive impact on senior physical, social and emotional health and well-being.
The Glebe Centre, located in the Glebe community, has 254 residents in its long-term care facility and offers an array of community programs and services to over 1000 people in the broader Ottawa community at its Abbotsford House.
SEEKING NEW MEMBERS
The Glebe Centre is seeking two new members for the Board of Directors.
We would like a Board that:
- Is diverse and inclusive
- Has a membership with a variety of skills, knowledge and experience
- Cares for and supports our community and values
OPPORTUNITY TO CONTRIBUTE
If you have a strong interest in caring for the aging community; a willingness to share your knowledge and skills; and you would like to make a difference, please express your interest in joining the Glebe Centre Board of Directors.
- Board governance and leadership
- Senior health care and wellbeing
- Fundraising, including capital development and with foundations
- Accounting and financial management
TIME COMMITMENT
The Board, according to its revised Bylaws, has between nine and twelve Board members. They generally serve two three-year terms, which supports a continuous rotation of the Board members.
As a volunteer Board, members are expected to commit approximately fifteen hours a month to board activities
The commitment includes:
- Attending up to nine regular Board meetings (usually 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. the last Monday in January, February, March, April, May, September, October and November) and the Annual General Meeting and Post-AGM meeting (usually from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in June) each
- Participating in Board committees and working groups.
- Contributing to board discussions, planning and other work as required.
- Engaging in the broader community.
