The Canada Life Office of the CIO (OCIO) provides central coordination and governance for the Canada Technology organization in the form of Strategy, Portfolio Management, Finance, and Methodology.


In this role, you will be a strong collaborator that works closely with project team members, business partners and technical experts.

You will use your strong analysis and critical thinking skills to understand the business needs, to elicit, document, and communicate solution requirements, and to manage these requirements through to implementation.

In addition to requirements, you will elicit and document processes that help the organization understand the impacts of implementing technology solutions.

You will be part of an analyst community that strives to collectively improve its capabilities, supporting one another so that we deliver the best quality and highly valued products to our stakeholders


What you will do

  • Lead the elicitation of stakeholder needs and requirements from the perspective of business process, system functionality, service management, operational requirements, and usability, ensuring that the documented requirements are clear and consumable as the foundation for process and technical design and build.
  • Lead the design, validation, and implementation of configuration changes to a Strategic Portfolio Management tool.
  • Develop collaborative partnerships and provide leadership across a variety of stakeholder groups, ensuring that information collected from multiple sources is critically evaluated, conflicts are resolved, information is clearly communicated at the appropriate level of detail, and requests are distinguished from the underlying business needs with the goal of driving to consensus.
  • Contribute to other project implementation activities and deliverables, including process and system design, testing, organizational change management, technical support documentation, risk management, assessing organizational readiness and business impact analysis, implementation rollout and project closeout.

What you will bring

  • 3+ years' experience as a business process and/or systems analyst independently documenting the following: translating business needs into clear designs to produce highquality builds, performing unit and functional testing of designs, creating functional requirements, nonfunctional requirements, and relational data modeling and design with deep knowledge of normalization.
  • University or College education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Understanding of IT project methodologies, processes and practices, experience working in both agile and structured environments is an asset.
  • Training or certifications in BA related modelling and methods such as BPMN or UML is an asset.
  • Good understanding of data integration requirements and design, for inbound/outbound integrations.
  • Experience articulating functionality of systems to business and IT teams at various levels.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to maintain and enhance collaboration across business and technology teams.
  • Proven interpersonal / teamwork skills on high performing teams.
  • Proven ability to learn and handle multiple priorities in a challenging work environment.
  • Ability to research and propose resolutions to complex technical issues.
  • Ability to work in a virtual team environment, facilitating and contributing to work across geographies and across other functional teams.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate winwin outcomes among crossfunctional teams.

What will set you apart:


  • Experience working with and configuring a strategic portfolio management tool such as Broadcom Clarity, Planview, etc.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI
  • Deep understanding of project and portfolio management concepts
  • SAFe certification
