Summer Camp Counsellor
The YMCA of Fredericton responds to critical social needs in the
community and works to provide solutions. By nurturing the potential of
children, youth and adults, the YMCA connects people to life-building
opportunities, as well as to each other and enhances their quality of life.

Position Overview
The Summer Camp Counsellor is responsible for delivering the Summer

Day Camp program to all children enrolled (ages 5 to 12). This includes

Duties
Deliver camp curriculum/daily activities.

Model appropriate interactions/participation with peers.

Perform in a fast-paced environment with confidence, maturity,
and enthusiasm.

Actively participate in scheduled outings, swimming, and gym
time.

Incorporate Physical Activity daily.

Ensure a constant presence with the children in your program,
engaging in activities with the youth and promoting safety first.

Develop a healthy rapport with children, their families, and the
public, maintaining open communication.

Inform the Camp Leadership Team of any program changes,
problems, and/or concerns immediately.

Adherence to the YMCA Child Protection Policies and Procedures
ensuring a safe environment for children/young people, and
vulnerable persons; taking appropriate action when necessary.

Skills & Qualifications
Standard First Aid and Level C CPR required

Clear Social Development Check required

Clear Vulnerable Sector and Criminal Record Check required
Early Childhood Education Diploma, Teaching Certificate, or

previous camp experience is seen as an asset

Experience and/or training in child development, children's
programs, and youth recreation is seen as an asset

Location:
YMCA of Fredericton and

YMCA Willie O'Ree Place

Status:
Seasonal, Full Time

hrs/week

Wage:
$14.90-$23.47

Age specific certificates considered an asset (i.e. Children with
Disabilities, sport specific trainings, etc.)

Knowledge of Provincial Child Care Licensing Policies and
Regulations

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

Ability to communicate effectively

Strong customer service experience

Interest in working After School Programs in September 2023

Working Conditions

Hours:

7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Hours/week dependent on need.
