Reporting to the Director, Manufacturing, the Plant Manager will oversee our Montée-des-Liesses facility from all aspects of regional manufacturing (production, quality, warehousing, and distribution, maintenance, and improvement to building).


The position will also include managing Expenses Budget and Staff (HR related issues) and last but not least, ensuring Environmental and Health and Safety policies, procedures and guidelines are implemented and respected.


Responsibilities:

Ø Responsible for all aspects of regional manufacturing operations:

  • Through Production Control, ensure the co-ordination of production schedules to maximize plant efficiency and Overall Equipment Availability optimization (O.E.E.).
  • Through the Distribution Management team, responsible for optimizing inventories of raw materials and finished goods to ensure customer service and uninterrupted Production whilst minimizing working capital.
  • Investigate and handle specific customer complaints as required.
  • Review and provide solutions to ensure production goals and maintenance requirements are met and communicate production trends.
  • Ensure product quality standards are met and Production efficiencies are maintained.
  • Oversee semiannual inventory counts and variance investigation.
  • Approve requisitions for materials and supplies.
  • Lead production efficiency projects and build/maintain a culture of LEAN
Ø Accountable for the annual regional operations Capital and Expense Budget:

  • Provide annual capital and operating budget preparations for approval.
  • Provide justification for approval for expenditures when the expenditure is over authorization limits.
  • Monitor capital spending to ensure the approved budget is respected.
  • Using available system or Plant developed information, tracks Plant costs and identifies projects or programs where costs can be positively affected.
  • Make recommendations to improve efficiency and evaluate/ recommend new equipment purchases.
  • Review all new products proposed for the plant and ensure a proper analysis is done by relevant personnel.
  • Provide accurate, responsible cost estimates in response to requests from various areas regarding new products or processes.
  • Establish and manage project teams to deal with new products where significant Plant implications are evident.
  • Perform a general review of all PDS's to ensure the information offered by the Plant is reflective of what should be expected and to ensure the product is consistent with the plant's capabilities.
Ø Recruiting, training, and motivating and ensuring that staff is informed, trained, and motivated and that Human Resource issues are identified and attended to as necessary:

  • Plan for the overall personnel requirements for the manufacturing operations.
  • Interview and hire key positions: Managers and Supervisors
  • Ensure that all employees are trained to perform their intended function in an efficient, safe and responsible manner. This includes ensuring employees' awareness of the ISO Procedures and Work Instructions
  • Maintain an uptodate succession/back up plan for key roles in the operation.
  • Approve overall vacation schedules for personnel to ensure production is not interrupted.
  • Evaluate production employees 'performance as a first
- and second-line manager.

  • In collaboration with the Human Resources Representative, discuss and finalize any disciplinary measures, up to and including termination of employment.
Ø Responsible to ensure Environmental and Health and Safety policies, procedures and guidelines are implemented and adhered to:

  • Support the development and implementation of Health and Safety policies that comply with government regulations and that also assure a safe work environment for all employees and visitors.
  • Monitor compliance to the Health and Safety procedures and takes appropriate action to deal with nonconformances.
  • Ensure safety and environmental issues are enforced.
  • Provide input and solutions for continuous improvement actions to ensure accurate completion of incident reporting.
  • Ensure the Plant remains in compliance with the Insurance requirements as communicated.
  • Ensure that activities are in place to minimize the generation of waste materials.


The Plant Manager assists as required for company initiatives where the work may not be directly related to the Eastern Region Operations.


Qualifications:


  • A degree in engineering or science or equivalent training and experience
  • A minimum of 15 years previous experience in manufacturing processes in increasingly responsible roles with previous plant managerial experience, inclusive of production, maintenance, and plant logistics.
  • Ability to communicate in French and English (oral and written)
  • Ability to create reports and write clear proposals.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate large projects.
  • Excellent communication and people skills (oral and written)
