    Working with our client, a long-time entity in the housing market in the downtown Toronto area, we are hiring a Pest Control and Hoarding Specialist to minimize and eradicate bedbug and pest infestations as well as hoarding issues; stays up-to-date with the latest technologies and methods; ensures compliance with the mission statement, policies, and procedures of the organization.


    Benefits of the role:

    • Between $56, $58,324.18 per year , based on experience
    • Pension of between 6.1% 7.1% from employer contributions.
    • Paid time off: 5 days personal leave, 15 days sick leave, 10 days' vacation in first year, increasing to 15 days in the second year, and increases continually every year up to a maximum of 34 days.

    Responsibilities:

    • Knowledge of best practices for bed bug, pest and hoarding issues
    • Knowledge of group processes and dynamics
    • Demonstrated interpersonal and team work skills; ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with Shelter and Housing coworkers and interact positively with the tenant population who have experienced homelessness, mental health and addiction problems
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently
    • Selfmotivated with the ability to problem solve individually and as part of a team/group
    • Demonstrated organizational, time management, and administration skills
    • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications
    • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
    • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in languages other than English an asset
    • Working with other staff, Property Supervisor and tenants to prepare for bed bug/pest removal and/or assist in hoarding cleanup and housing issues stemming from hoarding
    • Maintain bed bug/pest control tools and equipment in good condition
    • Must be able to lift 25 kilograms

    Qualifications:

    • Postsecondary education or equivalent
    • Several years' experience working with people who are homeless, underhoused/hard to house
    • Knowledge of tenant population, diversity issues, antidiscrimination practices and systemic reasons for homelessness
    • Experience with rental legislation in Ontario
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Knowledge of relevant laws, standards and guidelines
    • Knowledge of resources and services available in the community
    • Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and organization skills
    • Certificates in First Aid, CPR, Crisis Prevention and Intervention an asset
    • Certificate of Completion of Homelessness Learning Hub's Harm Reduction for the Homelessness Sector considered an asset
