***We are currently looking for Residential Rehabilitation Therapists in Mississauga, responsible for providing supervision, personal care, and rehab support to individuals with acquired brain injuries (ABIs). At our Mississauga residence, we provide a home-like environment to encourage a greater range of skills that our clients will carry with them as they return to community living. This role also includes caring for individuals in the Complex Care Program who require total-care support due to ongoing medical issues, in addition to intensive rehabilitation needs; these individuals are dependent on the RTs for all aspects of daily living. Please note, shifts may include a combination of full-duty shifts and sleep-shifts. During a sleep-shift, you will not be required to perform the full scope of RT duties; you will be available on-site to support the primary (full-duty) RT if needed. A reduced wage is provided for sleep-shifts.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with individuals with acquired brain injuries while assisting them with increasing levels of independence through individualized rehabilitation programs (responsible for up to 5 clients at a particular time)
  • Perform personal care (e.g. bedbaths, dressing, oral care) medication management, and various forms of transfer tasks
  • Utilize appropriate Crisis and Behavioural Management strategies
  • Complete documentation following company and provincial guidelines
  • Follow the designed rehabilitation program as accurately as possible
  • Collect required clinical data through documentation, tracking, etc.
  • Complete research to assist with enhancing client programs
  • Other clinical and administrative duties as assigned
  • Housekeeping duties as assigned
Job Qualification


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Postsecondary education in social sciences or health care related studies; ideal for individuals who are currently in school or graduates of nursing programs looking for experience working with medically complex individuals
  • PSW certification and experience preferred
  • G driver's license with a clean driver's abstract, access to a vehicle and the proper insurance to transport clients in own vehicle
  • Ability to work flexible hours (evenings, weekends, overnights, occasional holidays) and commit to ongoing casual employment
  • Knowledge and/or experience working with individuals with mental health issues, dual diagnoses, behavioural issues, chronic pain, and addictions
  • Conflict resolution skills and ability to work with clients and team members toward solutions; addressing issues such as verbal aggression, physical and environmental aggression, elopement, socially and sexually inappropriate behaviours
  • Ability to problemsolve/handle difficult situations in an objective consistent manner
  • Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team
  • Ability to be selfdirected and take direction
  • Willingness and ability to perform: personal care tasks medication assistance, assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), administrative tasks, light cleaning, advocacy, and clinical therapy implementation
  • Enjoy dealing with people and working in a fastpaced customer service environment
  • Strong communication (oral and written) skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform bending, stretching and lifting while assisting clients
  • Ability to be organized and able to complete tasks within allocated time frames
  • Commitment to continual learning, upgrading and enhancing skills
