About the Opportunity:


Under the direction of the manager, and under the supervision of the registered Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist, the Rehabilitation Assistant, as an active member of the patient care team, works with individuals, families and groups to help educate and promote movement, occupation, function.

Working collaboratively with their team, the Rehabilitation Assistant is responsible for the safe and proficient delivery of activities that have been assigned by the physiotherapist/occupational therapists for patients coping with temporary or permanent limitations in movement and daily function.

They enable clients to meet their expected outcomes by contributing to the implementation and to the modification of rehab programs and services.

The Rehabilitation Assistant also checks and cleans equipment, maintains treatment and storage areas and orders necessary supplies.


This position is classified as a Rehabilitation Assistant. The scope of work will lean slightly towards the occupational therapy responsibilities more.

About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade 12 or GED
  • Completion of an accredited Rehabilitation Assistant Program (which includes both Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy components)
  • Experience with ADL practice is considered an asset
  • Experience with seating and wheelchair equipment is considered an asset
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
  • Ability to communicate well with both patients and their families and staff
  • Good interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively with team members
  • Organizational ability to complete assigned work and manage changing staffing and caseload levels
  • Previous experience dealing with elderly and physically and/or cognitively impaired patients is an asset
  • Experience working frail older adults considered an asset
  • Experience working with people who have dementia and cognitive impairment considered an asset
  • Knowledge of proper body mechanics
  • Demonstrate basic computer skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

A skill test will be included as part of the selection process

Hours:


  • Permanent, Parttime (50%) Position; 37.5 Hours Biweekly

Compensation and Incentives:

$ $25.44 Hourly
