Position Summary:
The Sanitation Worker will be responsible for performing all cleaning and sanitizing of the equipment, machines and surrounding areas.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize the plant surrounding areas and all equipment, machine on a daily basis
- Maintain and upkeep sanitation equipment and utensils including personal equipment
- Work with different cleaning chemicals, detergents and sanitizers
- Operate a CIP system and configurations (i.e. hose, pipe and spray ball connections)
- Ensure basic cleaning functions of filling machines
- Operate equipment such as scissor lift and power washer
- Perform varying tasks while standing, lifting and bending for extended periods of time
- Follow instructions and procedures for cleaning and sanitizing while adhering to all Health & Safety guidelines
- Must be available for night shift and routinely work on the weekend (Saturdays or Sundays)
- Flexible with hours of work
- Other duties as assigned by Manager
Education, Experience & Competency Requirements:
- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent, and previous experience in the food/beverage industry
- Food safety and sanitation knowledge
- Must have strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient ability to speak, read, write and take direction in English
- Mechanical and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of GMP's, HACCP and SQF principles is preferred
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities simultaneously in order to meet deadlines
- Able to work in a fastpaced work environment and have good attention to detail
- Must be flexible to work dayshift, afternoon shift and weekends
- Ability to work well with other people and as a team player.
