Postion Summary:

_**- to-day management of finances for a multi-million dollar academic and clinical department in accordance with _Generally Accepted Accounting Principles_ (GAAP), McMaster University, and other relevant policies and procedures.


This will entail overseeing the financial transactions of two Alternate Funding Plans (AFP), the clinical practice plan, research account reconciliation, department operating funds and education specifically restricted funds.

In addition, the
Finance Manager has a liaison relationship with the pediatric accounts within both Hamilton Health Sciences and St.

Joseph's Healthcare.


The
Finance Manager will advise department leadership on University and partner hospital financial policies and procedures, work in developing annual budgets, and play a key role in working with the _McMaster Pediatric Physician Association_ (MPPA) and other partner institutions.


Reporting to the Director of Administration, the
Finance Manager will also work in accordance with directions from the Department Chair of Pediatrics, as well as both University and external sponsor policies and procedures to achieve department goals and objectives.


The
Finance Manager is supported by and is responsible for managing a current team comprising of an Accounting Assistant, Data Management Assistant, and Budget Analyst.

This team is collectively responsible for supporting the processing of travel and expense reports, and accounts payable and receivable for all faculty practices.

The department finance team is responsible for supporting all research funds and liaising with the various responsible offices.

Key Accountabilities:
_**- Responsibilities include meeting all University, Regional Medical Associates and Ministry deadlines.

Developing and implementing all departmental budgets, individual faculty budgets, annual personnel agreements, year end reconciliation and reporting up to and including trial balance for external auditors.
