The Richmond Nature Park Society offers environmental programs all year round. Programs introduce visitors to nature and the bog environment of the park.
Overview
The Environmental Educators are integral members of the Nature Park team; they will run summer camps and/or weekly year-round programs. The successful candidate must enjoy working with the public, be interested in environmental education and have experience presenting programs for 4 – 6 year old children.
Examples of key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Delivering programs for preschoolers (4 – 6 year olds).
- Developing fun and interactive experiences in nature.
- Organizing materials and resources for each program.
- Providing program evaluations to Nature Park staff.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Background in education, natural sciences, environmental education, or related.
- Basic understanding of environmental interpretation is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Current Basic First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a Police Information Check.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of high school diploma (Grade 12 or equivalent).
- 1-2 years of experience working with children.
- Early Childhood Education certificate is an asset.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, including trails.
Remuneration
- Summer camps - June 16 to September 4. Additional opportunities during the school year may be available.
- Starting rate: $19.85/hr; with ECE certificate $ /hr.
- 24 – 35 hrs/week
