Description

The Maintenance Technician plays a pivotal role in the smooth and efficient operation at Nuform Building Technologies, a PVC extrusion plant.

This role ensures optimal performance of all production equipment, coordinates external contractors, troubleshoots mechanical and electrical systems, and manages critical operations like chilling and compressed air systems.


Responsibilities:


  • Equipment Maintenance:_
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on extrusion lines, cutters, cooling tanks, fabricating machines, punch machines, and other production equipment.
  • Proactively identify and address potential equipment issues to prevent downtime.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and update computerized work order systems.
  • Support 5S initiatives by ensuring tidy and efficient work cell areas.
  • System Oversight:_
  • Oversee the operation of the plant's chilling system and compressed air system.
  • Understand the principles of extruder operation, from heating to cooling.
  • Knowledge of cooling tower operation, including chiller mode and freecool mode.
  • Operate air compressors and dryers.

Contractor Coordination:

  • Liaise with and manage external contractors, including chiller subcontractors, air compressor service providers, water treatment chemical companies, grinder service companies, forklift repair companies, and others.
  • Coordinate certifications for overhead cranes and scissor lifts.
  • Collaborate with HVAC service companies, drive technicians, and electrical contractors.
  • Facilitate ESA coordination and interactions with the landlord.
  • Additional Duties:_
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems, including vacuum loss issues.
  • Operate forklifts for machinery movement and alignment.
  • Utilize overhead cranes safely.
  • Operate grinders for pelletizing processes.
  • Understand Nucon system operations.
  • Acquire pricing and manage relationships with local and overseas suppliers.
  • Possess hydraulics experience and welding capabilities (if applicable).
  • Demonstrate PLC knowledge or trainability.
  • Maintain proficiency in computer systems.
  • Control parts inventory and understand electrical components (contactors, breakers, fuses, temperature controllers, relays, overloads, etc.).
  • Exhibit extensive knowledge of tool usage and electrical voltages.

Qualifications:


  • Education/Experience:_
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a maintenance technician, ideally in a manufacturing or extrusion environment.
  • Formal technical training or apprenticeship is a significant advantage.

Skills:


  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Electrical knowledge and experience with various voltages.
  • Excellent problemsolving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent


Salary:
$28.00-$32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
