South Country Co-op is hiring a
Gas Bar Division Manager, to lead our Gas Bar locations across our trading areas within Southern Alberta.

Reporting to the Vice President of Energy, this permanent full-time position will be based at our Corporate Office in Medicine Hat, Alberta.


What you'll do:


As the Gas Bar Division Manager, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leading growth and business development within the Gas Bar Division.

You will lead corporate performance management, strategic planning, marketing, facilities management and operations, risk management, and annual operating and capital budgets in alignment with our Values, Vision, Mission, Culture and Brand.


  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the Senior Leadership Team to provide guidance and support in Gas Bar/C-Store sales growth, financial, and operational improvements.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the operations of the Gas Bar Division to achieve growth and business development objectives.
  • Challenge processes by searching for opportunities and looking outward for innovative ways to continuously improve and grow.
  • Account for the overall management of the Gas Bar Division, including annual operating budgets, capital budgets, and business plans to meet sales, expenses, and profit objectives.
  • Be responsible for the enhancement and development of policies, procedures, and processes to support the division's goals, key activities, and programs.
  • Participate in strategic planning, annual planning, and goal setting; and ensure marketing efforts support the Strategic Plan / Annual Plan / Budget.
  • Ensure facilities adhere to or exceed the highest brand standards and expectations then identify deficiencies and provide recommendations/action plans as required.
  • Support and implement successful marketing campaigns to boost store sales and consumer awareness of the Coop Value proposition.
  • Participate in the coordination and planning of feasibility studies, new projects, and renovations projects.
  • Provide leadership to the Gas Bar Division team, which include team members and team leaders. Be responsible for the talent management cycle, including Orientation and Onboarding, Succession Planning, Performance Management, etc.
  • Promote and ensure Team Members are following our Coop brand values, and practices consistently.
  • Collaborate with Risk Management in providing for the health, safety, and security of all employees and operational assets.

Who you are:


  • Have a minimum of 812 years' experience in a retail environment, with a preference for experience specifically related to Gas Bars and C-Stores.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years experience leading technical, professional, or management employees.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills and the ability to work well within multigenerational teams.
  • Commitment to ongoing leadership development.
  • Exceptional Guest experience skills.
  • Strong attention to detail as well as organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • You hold a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  • Commitment to ongoing development in the industry.
  • You are honest, trustworthy, results oriented, and strive to be the best in what you do.
  • Hold a minimum Class 5 driver's license.
  • Ability to adapt to new technology.


This position will require regular travel between locations in our trading areas, and some travel outside our trading area for business needs as required.
