Pay Band:
$34.48/hr to $41.54/hr + Benefits

About the Harm Reduction Department
SWCHC's Harm reduction department has undergone a period of rapid growth and intersecting crises over the past few years.

The department encompasses our pioneering NESI van and daytime programs, Consumption and Treatment Service (CTS), Safe Supply/ OAT program, DOPE Response and Homeless Crisis Outreach teams, HIV testing and outreach, support to the Catherine St.

social services hub, and more.

The Harm Reduction team is a diverse, interdisciplinary group comprised of nurses, social workers and lived experience workers among other professional and personal backgrounds.


Role


Reporting the Clinical Manager, Harm Reduction, the CTS Team Lead will primarily support the day to day operations of our Consumption and Treatment Service, including Mobile Greeters and outside courtyard space.

This position will require flexibility to shift priorities and tasks to respond to needs.

The Team Lead will take a leadership role to ensure harm reduction clients receive high quality, coordinated care from our interdisciplinary team.

This includes support with hiring, onboarding, coaching and mentoring, crisis intervention, client support, care plan development, policy development and implementation and change management.

They will support the Leadership team in ensuring compliance with funding and legal requirements and completing reporting.


The Team Lead will work closely with the Harm Reduction leadership team to identify program gaps and priorities to advance the work of stabilizing SWCHC's innovative and life-saving programs.

They will also participate actively in Communities of Practice and liaise with other service providers to identify best practices and opportunities for quality improvement and collaboration in our programs.


Requirements:


Education

  • Postsecondary education in harm reduction, social work, behavioural therapy, or equivalent experience.

Professional Experience

  • Priority: lived or living expertise in substance use an asset
  • Priority: identifying as member of Black, Indigenous, Persons of Colour (BIPOC) communities an asset
  • Priority: clinical certification an asset: ex. registered social worker, registered psychotherapist, registered nurse or practical nurse; certified addictions therapist; or formal training in concurrent disorders
  • Preference given to those with previous experience in a leadership role
  • Successful completion of police record check for vulnerable populations
  • Valid CPR and First Aid

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of best practices for individuals with substance use, supervised injection/consumption services, and suicide assessment.
  • Strong knowledge of substances frequently used in the CTS service user population, psychoactive properties & possible drug interactions
  • Strong knowledge and experience screening and assessing for risk of overdose & withdrawal, and responding to overdoses
  • Strong knowledge of primary care and the social determinants of health
  • Strong knowledge of health promotion, disease prevention, behaviour change and health teaching
  • Excellent clinical assessment skills
  • Demonstrated ability and clinical expertise working with clients in crisis and leading crisis response
  • Expertise in nonviolent crisis intervention and deescalation
  • Strong knowledge of concurrent mental health distress presentations including psychosis, trauma and emotional dysregulation
  • Strong knowledge of harm reduction approach and service delivery
  • Familiarity with specific legislative and college requirements around Consumption and Treatment Services and Safer Supply/ OAT prescription an asse
