Summary of position


The Supervisor, Production is responsible for the planning and execution of production orders and training of colleagues in a manner that will achieve the safety, quality, and service goals of the Packaging Services Business Unit.

The Supervisor, Production is responsible for the coordination and supervision of colleagues to meet the requirements of the production operation, and achieves these tasks by ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and company policies.

Here are some of the different activities you'll be asked to do:

  • Supervise and direct all production activities scheduled for the workday in a manner that will achieve the safety, quality, and cost-effective service goals.
  • Assign the appropriate number of Operators and Packers to their specified area.
  • Help colleagues achieve daily tasks by communicating expectations, providing guidance, monitoring, and evaluating job results; ensure the correct product, quantity, and package quality of orders.
  • Responsible for the accurate execution of work orders and ensuring all colleagues, bulk, components, and procedures operate according to standards.
  • Responsible for the effective training of colleagues regarding company policies and procedures, including GMPs, SOPs, and documentation.
  • Meet or exceed the schedule of required production output, including the monitoring and reporting of various metrics (i.e., film waste, equipment downtime, etc.).
  • Lead and participate in safety, quality, and production investigations to provide corrective and preventative actions.
  • Provide input, coaching, and feedback for performance reviews of production colleagues.
  • In conjunction with Human Resources, participate in interview and evaluation process of production colleagues.
  • Monitor attendance, vacations, and absenteeism for production colleagues.
  • Communicate with other Supervisors and Leaders to ensure proper handover of shift activities and provide information on general performance and issues.
  • Work with temporary labour agency to ensure appropriate staffing levels; train agency employees to follow procedures and standards, communicate daily with Manager, Production, and labour agency Ambassador regarding number of temporary employees required, personnel issues, absences, safety issues, etc.

If you've got:


  • High School Diploma required.
  • Postsecondary preferred, science or business discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years' leadership experience in a packaging/food/pharmaceutical environment.
  • Highly competent in all primary pieces of equipment.
  • Sound understanding of production and plant processes.
