Telecon is looking for an energetic and motivated individual to join our growing Civil Team This is a field position/on the road.

Working under the supervision of the Foreman, the Construction Technician will assist the Expercom Civil Team with the installation of telecommunications infrastructure (buried cable, wire, or ducts) for various projects.

YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

Digging holes and trenches & Pulling cable
Assist with removal of all debris from work sites.
Aid with general site preparation and cleanup as directed (housekeeping)
Able to complete landscaping restoration work.
Complete all report in accurate and timely manner (i.e., production tracking)
Safely loading and unloading vehicles with supplies and equipment as directed
Able to run gas and power equipment (i.e., saws, drills, jumping jacks)
Able to read construction plans, cable plans, and locates.
Proficient at pipework, placing Y etc. (when applicable)
Able to train crew members, as well as lead a crew on a job site.
Competent in and able to swamp (when applicable)
Ability to assess work environment for potential health and safety hazards and ensure work is completed safely; able to complete a Job Hazard Assessment
Must be able to work in confined spaces.
Assist with handling and distributing construction materials.
Create and maintain traffic control plan on site.
Able to repair minor concrete and asphalt restoration.
Concrete finishing (more than 5 consecutive sidewalk bays including curbing or areas greater than 20m2)
Lead on duct bank break and reinstate (greater than 12 ducts)
Other duties as required.

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

Construction or landscaping industry experience
buried utilities
4+ years of related experience in the construction industry
Strong interpersonal skills needed when working in and with the public year long.
Must be able to safely lift 23 kg (50 lbs)
Must have a valid G license (or greater) and a good driver's abstract.
Ability to work in inclement weather year long.
Must be able to provide a criminal record check to the company's satisfaction.
Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
Good interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work in a team environment.
