    * There are two positions available, and the second one will primarily concentrate on the following tasks, in addition to the general job duties mentioned earlier: overseeing the implementation of Terminal Operating Systems, managing all gate activity and rail load plans, and handling the operations of multiple terminals within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

    Job Summary

    The Senior Manager, Terminal is responsible for the overall management of the day-to-day Regional Terminal operations. The role oversees and elaborates on the region mid-term and long-term strategies and strategic planning to enable growth while maintaining a safe operation that provides unparalleled Service to CN's Intermodal customers. Furthermore, the position is accountable for operating under the environment governed by a collective agreement.

    Main Responsibilities

    Safety Orientation, Understanding, Compliance and Enforcement

    · Lead and supervise a regional team of managers and unionized employees to ensure all skills, abilities and competence of duties performed are followed

    · Ensure clear direction is given and that safety is first priority

    · Set mid-term and long-term objectives and monitor their execution to ensure success

    · Coach both management and unionized employees on how to become enablers of safety behaviours

    · Build safety compliance and help the team in finding ways to reach safety results

    · Audit and validate safety discussions held by the different regional management teams

    · Complete the submission of injury close out

    General Leadership and Performance Management (Onboarding)

    · Communicates company goals and policies to create clear understanding of direction and expectations to managers, supervisors, and unionized employees

    · Works with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in returning employees to work and handling the occupational and non-occupational leaves

    · Coach managers to develop and sustain the right employee behaviours with feedback, recognition, reinforcement, and coaching

    · Participate in the interview process and facilitate training schedule

    · Oversee the different terminals and ensure time off requests, leaves of absence, and attendance management

    · Lead the Employee Performance System (EPS) process (i.e., employee performance, employee performance expectations as well as performance reviews)

    · Work with Terminal Managers to develop comprehensive development goals and support in the achievement of technical and leadership development, providing opportunity for growth

    · Conduct and validate onboarding conversations held by the different terminal teams to ensure employees are adopting proper work practices, and have the knowledge, tools and understanding to perform their job safely and efficiently

    · Identify and coach performance deficiencies, and take action to build required behaviour

    · Share best practices, information, operational concerns, and company information in order to create transparency and clear understanding of company direction and expectations

    Problem Solving and Decision Making

    · Maintain teamwork and order amongst staff, contractors, and internal clients by acting with sense of urgency to respond to issues

    · Leverage experience and understanding to ensure decisions being made consider larger perspectives

    · Use operational data in CN systems to identify opportunities to improve asset utilization and service reliability

    · Take action for territory and make recommendations where the CN network is implicated

    · Oversee and support management teams in accurate and timely data treatment to ensure reduction of left behinds, increase slot utilization and avoid train delays

    Planning and Organizing Workload

    · Review all operational processes continually to refine, optimize and simplify them to allow the team to execute efficiently and timely within all safety guidelines

    · Follow safety rules and practices to enable success and help deliver outstanding service to CN's customers, and other internal departments interactions

    · Support Region Managers in working with IMX group to handle the train plan and comply with the customer's service expectations

    · Coach the different local teams to question themselves and find ways of reinventing what they are doing day in and day out

    · Work with the customers to allow the terminals to create guidelines that will enhance the customers

    · Build network relationships to support in the strategic initiatives and opportunities of territory and region

    Working Conditions

    The role is performed in a combination of office and outdoor environments with various weather conditions with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The role may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays and is required to be on-call 24/7 to respond to critical incidents. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and stress. The role requires minimal travel (up to 15%) within Canada and the United States (U.S).

    Requirements

    Experience

    Industrial

    · Minimum 10 years of Industrial job experience that demonstrates progression of responsibility and complexity in a safety-compliant environment

    o Between 7 to 10 years of relevant professional experience*

    o Experience working in a unionized environment*

    Education/Certification/Designation

    · Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Logistics

    · Valid Driver's License

    · Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Logistics Management*
