As a key member of the Research team, the _Research and Communications Associate_ will be responsible for supporting research on occupational standards development and fostering relationships with external stakeholders.

The specific duties performed by the research and communications associate will be determined by the current phase of each research project and the priority of research tasks.

While each member of ECO Canada has individual responsibilities, ECO takes a team-based approach.

Everyone is encouraged to take ownership of their ideas and to see them through to completion, collaborating with key influencers as required.


Responsibilities

  • Promoting research activities to increase visibility in the environmental sector.
  • Conducting job postings analysis to inform research on the knowledge, skills, and abilities of environmental occupations.
  • Producing accurate occupational profiles, with assistance from the Competency Manager.
  • Reviewing, compiling, and editing research reports and project documents.
  • Assisting with designing and programming surveys.
  • Attending research team meetings.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience and education.
  • A minimum of oneyear of experience conducting independent research.
  • Experience in communicating complex scientific and technical concepts.
  • Demonstrated success in coordinating and executing a variety of creative, persuasive, and effective communications.
  • Familiarity with occupational research and workforce development is an asset.
  • Familiarity with practices, methods, and techniques used with occupational or demographics research and workforce analytics is an asset.
  • Experience with MS Office and online survey platforms such as SurveyMonkey is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills (reading, listening, writing, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and pattern recognition skills with a capacity to visualize problems using systems thinking.


  • Fluent in English

  • Fluency in French is considered an asset.
  • Selfmotivated, adaptable and a positive attitude.
